The American Dream

When you live in little, humble Denmark, far away from the mighty USA, it is difficult not to have what may be an unrealistic expectation. All the information we have about the USA comes from the media. Especially it is the films which have provided the knowledge we have about the USA. And in the films the USA is pictured as a Fantasy World. A world were every dream can come true like they can in the fairy tales. This way of seeing the USA as a land of opportunities is also deeply rooted in the past. "The American Dream" is a concept that dates all the way back to the time of the Settlers who where some of the first white men who came to America.
