Home at the hostel once again

After a nice trip to a real city of Québec called St. George were we visited a family each. But before we could go and se the home of the family we ate at a very nice restaurant were they make food with a lot of the famous Canadian syrup, and that was an experience worth to mention. For the first time I tasted eggs with syrup, it had a very special taste but were actually good with some ham. And to dessert with got crêpes with a lot of syrup of course, and then we got something really special, it was syrup drip on some ice and then it froze so we were able to put it on a stick, it tasted really good and it was a loot of SUGAR, but when you like sugar, Québec is not a bad place to be. After this great meal we took of and went home to our families. I lived by Julie and Simon, they are both teachers at the school of St. George. It were very cosy, we talked a lot about almost everything and had a nice cup of tea. The house they lived in were under construction. Simon had build most of it himself I believe. But the most fantastic thing were that they lived right beside a big leak, and I was told that they were swimming in the leak to mounts a year, in the summertime of course. It was just an amazing sight to wake up to the light outside and the trees that were reflected in the water, it was a landscape of dreams. It thanks for this great experience. And Julie et Simon merci beaucoup pour tôt. (Thanks fore everything, I had a great time).
But it is getting late and tomorrow it is once again travel day, unfortunately. Québec I will miss you, but thanks for this time...

The Waterfall

Meeting the local people of Saint Georges

QUÈBEC! Suddenly finding myself in fantastic Quèbec. It is amazing here, the nature is beautiful, the air is fresh and clean and the people are very friendly. This monday we have been visiting locals in the city Saint Georges in the region Beauce. It has been very nice to try to speak french with the locals. I feel that I have improved my french this way.
We ate lunch with our Canadian guide, Linda, at a sweet local cafe. The food was very delicious and for the first time since we arrived to Canada we had vegetables! In the evening we ate at another local place near the forest where there were many maple trees. It felt and tasted like 90% of the food was maple sirup!
We were divided in groups of one or two and then slept at houses of different locals in Saint Georges. It was a very exciting experience! In total monday was another fantastic day!

A day by the waterfall

Sunday a day of realexing inded, but this day we took a trip to a huge waterfall, it was about 30 meter higher than Niagra Falls. the wether was fine this day the sun was shinening, and there was no rain except from the rain the waterfall were creating. The nature around the waterfall was beautiful and the colours of the leaves were red, yellow, orange and green, it made a beautiful picture, and even though it was could the colour of the leaves made one feel warm inside.
We took a walk down the mountain near the waterfall to see it in another angle and it was beautiful and the sound of water falling were overwhelming. it was a fabouless walk. But when we have to walk the otherway upwards, we were amased, it was very hard to walk at the end and ones feet bacame even more heavy by every step.
After the waterfall trip it was ones againg time to do some shopping, and therefore we went to a shopping mall in Québec, but unfortunatly the mall closed at five and we arrived a tree o'clock.
Cood day everyone and the greatest greeting from Québec...

GOO REMPARTS!

Québec City

Welcome back luggage and good day Québec City

Yesterday I woke up to a lovely surprise, when I went down to the lobby I saw that my luggage was there. A fabulous surprise. The reason why it was gone was that a woman in the airport took the wrong bag and then she was to tired to get back to the hotel of ours and that was the only reason why I didn't have my luggage when we arrived. But I am just so happy to have my luggage back so that I don't have to by brand new clothes.
After a LOVELY start on the day we went out into the rain and walked around in the fabulous city of Québec. We all got soaked wet, be we went on. I have found the city of Québec very beautiful and it is possible to relax here in this town. On our trip around in the City we saw this piano player on a street. But before we realised it Petrea were in his seat and played so marvellous, I myself was spellbound by her music. Her finger tiptoed over the piano, there was magic in the air.
The city of Québec exudes of history and grandeur.
In the evening we were to go to an ice hockey game, with the local team called REMPARTS! That was my first ice hockey game and it will not be the last one. The atmosphere in the arena was just amazing, and the audience were very impressive, which improved the atmosphere. Before the came we have bought some fan T-shirts, a finger and we have got some fake tattoo. So we were ready to support our team. A team that we can be proud of because they won, JUBIIIII… with 7 - 2, that maked the game even more exciting, than it already were.
GO REMPARTS :-)

And a proper goodbye to NYC with Liza Manellie

First day in Québec - Evening mood

Travel day

Today we had to get up really early, so that we could reach our flight. But the funniest part was that we reached the airport in good time, and then we had to stand in a line for about 2 hours. When we were standing in the line, we experienced the famous line culture. The system was very bad, and the travellers were so upset, that they were fighting, and the poor lady behind the desk just loved her job, that I could tell. Poor lady.
In the fight I was so lucky to have a seat by the window, it is just an amazing sight, you have from the aircraft, especially when the sky is covered with clouds, and you fly above the clouds. Above the clouds you see this clearly blue sky, and that sight is just fabulous.
This day became even more fabulous, when we arrived in the airport of Québec, and my baggage was gone. It is of course a bit irritating, but on the other hand what are you supposed to do about it, you just have to wait and hope for the best. Maybe pray to God… But I think that this is the essence of travelling, the real adventure begins when things turn out another way than planed, and you just have the clothes that you are wearing. It is like you are starting on a fresh, and you do not know, were you are going. Maybe that is how the immigrants felt, when they arrived to there new country. I would say that it is a real adventure, because even though you have a plan about getting a better life, it was not given, that you would achieve a better life, or if you were going to be even more poor. So that is almost the same feeling I have in this very moment, and I am starting on a brand new chapter. At least until I get my baggage. The best greetings here from Québec, and may you create your own adventure. But do not lose your baggage on purpose, IT CAN BE DANGEROUS :-)

Sore feet - a fantastic feeling!

There are so many things to see in NY! This evening our legs and feet are completely sore. We have been on sightseeing in what feels like a huge part of Manhattan. We started the day in Harlem on a guided bus tour. It was quite interesting to see this special part of NY, the black capital of the US.
After lunch we moved on to go sightseeing guided by a danish journalist who has lived in NY for five years. She could tell us a lot of interesting Newyorker insider knowledge.
We ended the day with a hell of a lot of shopping which started at Broadway and ended at Times Square. This of course resulted in the use of way too much money.
New York is FABULOUS!

A day as an immigrant

To day it was time to follow the steps of the many immigrants who came to this land of possibilities, and maybe follow the steps of our own ancestors. First we went to the Statue of Liberty, which should be the golden gate to a new world, and the welcoming figure who spread her arms and hugs the immigrants.
At the time we stood there, it was raining, but the Statue of Liberty were shining of all the American spirit that she symbolise. In the rain she was warm and steadfast, and at the same time you are amazed by the big city that surrounds you.
After having seen the Statue of Liberty, it was time to be checked in and become a part of America, therefore we took the ship to Ellis Island. When we arrived, we were counted and after woods send into the building, were we were to go through a lot of test and answer an even larger amount of questions. They were very sweet and welcoming, and after the check up they served us a lovely meal. A chesses burger with fries and a lot of ketchup, a real American meal with a lot of calories.
When we came out into the light again, we saw that something was missing, the towers were gone, the chock was overwhelming, and we stood still fore some time, until we decided to go and see the place. It was an action that chanced the world for ever, many innocent people were killed, and the sorrow became a rock in the heart of, I think, all people in the world. The memorial was beautiful, and it are to symbolise the sorrow, that is never going away, just like the water that never stops, and the lights that just continues. It is a beautiful and at the same time a sad sight. The place deserves great respect, and the whole world grieves.

That was the day were we became Americans, and took a trip back in time to remember the day were the world changed.

Get omboard 3.a

Finally it was time to get omboard on the aircraft to New York, an 8 hour long trip. The expectations were high, and the world was on our feets. When we landed in Newark airport, we were meet by a warm breeze and the big jackets were gone in now time.

After having past through the pass control we were ready to take over NYC, but a 2 hour long bus trip was stopping us from going crazy in NYC. Though the bustrip were long we got to see the differents there are between the rich and the poor part of the New York City. It is amazing to see how a city can be divided in a rich and a poor part. It is possible to see that in Denmark too, but here it is more obivous
to see were the line goes.

But altougether NYC is quite AMAZING! The ligths is blinding your and you gets stars in your eyes as big as the cups. The song "Empire state of mind" is right when it says that "these streets will make you feel brand new" it is so true. Your are totally astounded and you just want to stay up all night long, but the jetlag were taking us down and into bed, but before we crawl into bed we saw this!
